Every May I do a charity drive to celebrate my birthday. This year is different. My father, Cole Gibbs, died a few days before my birthday so I decided to do something special to honor him.
Here's the deal. . . unlike previous fundraisers where I offered products for sale and donated the proceeds to charity, this year I’m not selling anything. I’m going to give my best information to you - - FREE!
Let me give you a little history. . .
My father and I began collecting toy trains together in 1977. The trains were a big part of our lives, and over the years we've met many wonderful people.
In 1999, I began teaching others the methods my father and I had developed to find toy trains. I also started teaching others how I sell trains on eBay.
Today, I teach people how to buy and sell all types of antiques and collectibles, and of course, about eBay. But, my goal here is not to talk about antiques or eBay.
What I do is a direct result of the hobby my father and I shared. Simply put, I teach others by writing books and reports, interviewing experts, and doing videos. I run a business selling information.
Many people get involved in information marketing because it's so lucrative. The low costs and high margins make it very profitable. My business is profitable, but to me it's never been about money.
It's about something else. . .
Freedom.
Selling information products has given me the freedom to pursue my other interests. The freedom to spend more time with my father. The freedom to do what I want while bringing in enough money to cover my living costs and save a bit for the future. (I also spend a bunch on trains.)
